Tak Ananda is a professionally qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist and the author of `Talk Together: Walking the Journey with Our Adolescent’. Tak works with Individuals, Couples and Families to explore and resolve a wide range of personal and interpersonal issues that get in the way of living life authentically and fully.
Tak says: “Throughout my life I have taken an interest in human psychology, health and spirituality. These interests inspired me to undertake a journey of extensive study in the field of human dynamics. Now, as an eclectic practitioner with a wide range of experiences, I endeavour to integrate my knowledge, intuition and understanding to tailor the needs of individual/s in my therapeutic practice.
I work in a holistic way to incorporate the individual’s internal world, family-of-origin, relational interaction, social and community considerations, past experiences, current contextual framework and future aspirations. I value and take into consideration cultural, gender, religious and socio-political context and am aware how these factors impact on peoples’ lives.
My work with peoples’ processes is based on an ethos of respect, dignity, compassion, equanimity, uniqueness and self-determination.
I endeavour to work from a non-biased and nonjudgmental framework.
My professional training requires an in-depth knowledge and understanding of human psychology, sociology, therapeutic capacities and ethical and professional boundaries.
I work in a professionally and ethically contracted relationship that enables individuals, couples and families to feel safe in exploring and resolving areas of an interpersonal and intrapersonal nature. Although I abide by the principles of confidentiality at all times, I may be required by law to disclose information in certain instances. I seek ongoing clinical supervision, professional development, self-awareness, self-development, self-monitoring and self-examination as central to effective and ethical practice.
In conjunction with providing face-to-face therapy with individuals, couples, families and young people, I have been involved in providing psycho-educational and psychotherapeutic group workshops.
These collective experiences brought me to a place where I embarked in writing a book called `Talk Together: Walking the Journey with Our Adolescent’. This book provides information to guide parents through a wide range of challenges in our young person.
