Integrated Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, subtle and non-invasive hands-on technique which combines practices of Craniosacral Therapy and Myofascial Release techniques.
They are often combined in the same treatment as they are more effective when offered together for addressing most musculoskeletal problems.
It is believed that the first rhythm to whelm us within weeks of conception and the last rhythm to leave our bodies at the time of death are our ‘Craniosacral’ or ‘Cranial’ Rhythms. They are wave-like rhythmic pulses or a whole body breathing that governs the entire body. This rhythmic pulse is an inherently fundamental order of intelligence that works to keep the entire body functioning as it should in optimal balance. This constant subtle intelligence is carried by the nervous system through connective tissues to every cell of your body, supplying it with all the information it needs to function as it is designed to in every moment.
Traumas, surgeries, inflammatory responses, poor posture, illnesses, stresses and repetitive tasks can cause the intricate web of connective tissue fascia in our bodies to become constricted and tight and can cause the body to have structural imbalances and misalignments. Unfortunately, structural imbalances and misalignments can interfere with or impede the flow of this innate intelligence or rhythmic pulses, causing imbalances that in time can create many health problems and disease.
Craniosacral Therapists work with these subtle rhythmic pulses to help correct these structural imbalances in the body allowing the innate intelligence to flow through to where it needs to go to and thus allowing dysfunctional cells to heal themselves. This is achieved by affecting the nervous system, muscle, fascia and bones of the body using very gentle compressions, stretches and holds at key structural areas of the body using a combination of Craniosacral and Myofascial Release Therapy techniques – Integrated Craniosacral Therapy techniques.
Where Myofascial Release is a gentle, safe and effective hands on technique that comprises of applying gentle sustained pressure, stretching and unwinding of the connective tissue covering the entire body, Craniosacral Therapy is an even subtler technique which focuses on the wave-like rhythmic pulse or breathing that governs the whole body to bring about harmony and balance in health within our internal environment.
