Ear Candling

Ear candling is a non-invasive, safe, completely painless and relaxing treatment for removing built-up wax from the ear canals. Treatment generally takes one hour.

Ear candling has a long history – this ancient clearing method has been used by the Egyptians – who apparently used reeds; the Chinese; Greeks and the Hopi Indians of America.

The process involves using specially designed hollow candles which are held gently on the edge of the ear to create a vacuum within the ear canal, drawing out wax.  The slight negative pressure inside the candle and the vibration of the rising air serves to gently massage the ear drum and promote secretion from the sinuses thereby regulating ear pressure.  Also the localised warmth stimulates circulation to the area and can have beneficial effect on the immune system.

Ear Candling can help:

  • Removal of excessive wax
  • Relieve pain due to pressure in the ear and sinus cavity
  • Clear pressure before or after a flight
  • Minor hearing loss due to excessive ear wax build-up
  • Fungal problems.
